Course Overview

Lean and Sustainability/Green thinking are embedded in different ways, have different implications, and occupy different areas inside the business world. The purpose of this course is to see both ways of thinking and, based on different frame of reference, understand its own attributes, borders, and terminologies, yet be able to leverage on one another and to create an blended approach, applying important concepts and methodologies combining the best of both worlds.

By applying Lean thinking to solve business environmental problems so as to coalesce on the improvement of the business supporting workflows with the high-level aim of achieving the continued process performance by reducing wastes and costs that impact the environmental at large.

This course will guide you on the how and where to start through understanding the pain points of the stakeholders. The only way going forward is the convince the stakeholders to embark onto the Go Green journey so as to develop new products or processes that cater to the rising socially responsible consumer trend.

  • Develop a value chain to map the work process.
  • Identify the pain points or gaps that maybe re-designed to meet the objectives of sustainability.
  • Prioritize where to start. And how to start.
  • Convince the stakeholders that this is the way to go.

3 Days In-Person Classroom Training (24 Hours Including 60 Mins Assessment)


After the course, trainee who had fulfilled the course requirements of

  1. 75% class attendance and
  2. Attained a 80% competency for the assessment

Will receive a Certification of Achievement from Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).

About the Faculty

William Wong

William Wong is a highly experienced professional with over 25 years of in-depth expertise in various aspects of design thinking, business model canvas, sales and marketing, channel management, turn-key projects, process improvement, start-up operation, service excellence, strategic road maps and business transformation. He has worked for two of the largest insurance companies in the world, AIA and Aviva, and has proven records in managing sales teams in generating more than 8% growth in new business growth year-on-year.

William is a people builder and system innovator with more than 20 years of experience in training and coaching individuals to realize their fullest leadership potential, and corporations to achieve their sales targets through design thinking and Six Sigma methodology. He is deeply committed to helping individuals grow and become better leaders in their careers and lives.

His previous academic experience include BBA from NUS.

William also has extensive knowledge in curriculum development in Design Thinking, Lean and Sustainability. William’s areas of expertise include Sustainability for Manufacturers, Lean & Green Business Model, Design Thinking, Agile, Business Model Canvas, Lean & Six Sigma, Service Excellence, Leadership & Personal Development, Talent Management, Senior Executive Development, Project Management, Sales management, Service Design, Generic Manufacturing Skills, Negotiation, Train the Trainers, Stress Management, Critical Thinking, and WSQ-WPL. As a freelance corporate trainer and coach, William is well adapted to handle corporate or public run classes. Furthermore, William is a lecturer for the British-based Pearson BTEC A-levels equivalent diploma programme.
